چکیده

In this work, the technique of Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) was used to fabricate micrometric structures at surface Cobalt-Chromium-Molybdenum and AZ91D magnesium alloys. Line-like patterns with spatial periods 5 μm were textured using an ultra-short pulsed laser (10 ps pulse duration 1064 nm wavelength) a two-beam interference setup. The topography, morphology, chemical modifications analysed Confocal Microscopy, Scanning Electron Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. fluence overlap varied evaluate their influence on final structure. Homogeneous achieved for CoCrMo alloy every condition tested, deeper (up 0.85 μm) being higher energy levels (higher and/or fluence). For high energy, sub-micrometric secondary structures, so-called LIPSS, could also be observed CoCrMo. EDS analysis showed some oxidation after texturing. Regarding alloy, 2.5 μm), but more melting observed, forming spherical oxide particles. Nonetheless, these results bring new perspectives fabrication microtextures DLIP.

Laser Welding of Magnesium Alloys

Aiming at establishing a reliable welding technique for magnesium alloys, the laser weldability of different types of magnesium alloys has been investigated using a high-brightness disc laser. It was found that high quality joints could be fabricated in the case of wrought type alloys when a certain defocusing level was optimized for the employed high-brightness laser beam of the newly develope...

Polymerization catalyst laser-interference patterning.

The binding of molecular polymerization catalysts to solid supports, in the form of microporous particles or also flat substrates, has been extensively studied. 11 .] The primary aim is to gain control of the morphology of the polymer formed directly during polymerization. This approach can be convenient, for example, in saving additional processing steps if the polymer is formed directly in th...

Laser Welding of Thin Sheet Magnesium Alloys

Magnesium and its alloys are active materials, and the oxide can easily form when they react with air and moisture (Czerwinski 2002). In addition, magnesium and its alloys are flammable and require strict safeguards during the manufacturing process. These disadvantages make the processing of magnesium alloys into finished products more challenging. These drawbacks cause defects such as cracks, ...

Microstructure and corrosion characteristics of laser-alloyed magnesium alloy AZ91D with Al-Si powder.

Blown-powder laser surface alloying was performed on the magnesium alloy AZ91D with Al-Si alloy powder to improve corrosion resistance. Characterization by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that intermetallic compounds (IMCs) of Mg2Si, Al12Mg17 and Al3Mg2 were formed in the matrix of α-Mg and Al solid solutions...
